  • Dear Fall 2022 SAY Program exchange and visiting students,

     

    Greetings from Yonsei OIA,

     

    The following is about mandatory offline orientation for Fall 2022 semester and Student ID Card & Certificate of Enrollment pick-up.

     
    A. Mandatory Offline Orientation (WEARING MASK INSIDE THE AUDITORIUM IS A MUST!)
    1. Period: August 30th(Tue) 2:00PM (entrance starts from 1:30PM)
    2. Venue: Main Auditorium, Yonsei University Sinchon Campus
    3. Objective: This orientation is designed to provide you all the practical information you need to adapt to life in Yonsei University and Korea as well as the opportunity to establish some social network with other exchange and visiting students. For students who have been at Yonsei since 2022 Spring, you do not have to attend the orientation. If you cannot attend the offline orientation for whatever reason, our office will be posting the orientation materials at our Notice Page (https://oia.yonsei.ac.kr/intstd/notice.asp) after the orientation date.
    4. First Step to Korea(FSK) Tour: If you wish to tour around Seoul with Yonsei University students, sign-up for the tour after the orientation is over! For more information, please refer to the attachment.
    -Each tour costs 50,000 KRW per student; please prepare the fee in advance and we accept CASH ONLY!
    -Spots are limited to 30 students per tour (first-come, first-served).
    5. Campus Tour: If you wish to tour around major buildings in Yonsei University, our university ambassadors will give you tour around the campus, one during the morning and one during the afternoon on August 31st(Wed). After the orientation is over, our office will hand out tour necklaces (first-come, first-served) which is mandatory for you to join the campus tour.
    -Date: [Morning Tour] August 31st(Wed) 10AM or [Afternoon Tour] August 31st(Wed) 2PM
    -Place: Arrive to Baekyangnuri, Global Lounge entrance 10 minutes before the tour starting time along with your tour necklace.
    -Spots are limited to 100 students per tour.
     
    B. Student ID Card & Certificate of Enrollment Pick-Up
    ※ For CIEE and UCEAP students, please disregard the following as the CIEE and UCEAP office will send a separate announcement to you regarding package pick-up.
    1. Period: August 25th(Thur)~26th(Fri), 29th(Mon) 9:30AM~3:30PM
    2. Venue: Woori Bank, Student Union Building (Bd 207) 1st Floor, Yonsei University Sinchon Campus
    ※ You may exchange currencies while visiting here but NOT create a bank account if you do not satisfy the eligibility at "C. Creating Bank Account at Woori Bank" below.
    3. To receive your package:
    1) Bring your PASSPORT("주민등록증" or "운전면허증" for Korean nationals) and Yonsei Student ID number information(ID: 202284####) to Woori Bank.
    2) Please let the staff at Woori Bank know that you are an “exchange/visiting student for Study Abroad at Yonsei Program and here to pick up your Student ID Card and Certificate of Enrollment."
    4. If you cannot make it to Woori Bank during the above period:
    Starting from September 1st(Thur) 10AM, please visit Suite S302(Office of International Affairs), Baekyang Hall, Yonsei University Sinchon Campus.
    Our office hour is Mon-Fri 9AM~12PM & 1:30PM~5PM.
     
    C. Creating Bank Account at Woori Bank 
    1. Eligibility: ONLY for those who have obtained their Alien Registration Card(ARC) issued by Seoul Southern Immigration Office
    *Korean nationals with their 주민등록증 are considered eligible
    This means you CANNOT apply for a Korean bank account at Woori bank until you've received your actual Alien Registration Card.
    You may apply for your Alien Registration Card(ARC) through our university group service, and we will send another separate announcement regarding group registration shortly.
    2. Alternate Money Transfer/Wire Service before your bank account is created: "MoneyGram"
    MoneyGram service is a new type of overseas remittance service that use the dedicated MoneyGram remittance network. If you use the existing service, it normally takes 2 or 3 days before you can confirm whether the beneficiary has received your remittance. When MoneyGram is used, you can remit money within 10 minutes at the MoneyGram member shop at any place in the world. Or, if you receive a remittance from the overseas country, your family or relative can receive the money quickly.
    For the specifics, please refer to the attachment or contact directly the MoneyGram agent you are planning to visit.
