    "Risk assessment on campus with an all-hazards approach: Addressing an understandng the risks of both natural and man-made hazards"

     

    Dates: February 12-15, 2020

    Venue: International Research Institte of Disaster Science(IRIDeS), Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan

     

    The 3rd Campus Safety Workshop is hosted and organized by the APRU-International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) Multi-Hazards Program Hub at Tohoku University. The Program emphasizes the importance of disaster preparedness and management on campus alongside the disaster risk reduction (DRR) after the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.

     

    Major objectives of the Campus Safety Workshop 2020:

    • ·         Understand natural and man-made disasters, particularly Natural-Hazards-Triggering-Technological-Hazards (Natech)
    • ·         Learn how to conduct a comprehensive disaster risk assessment using an all-hazards approach in universities
    • ·         Discuss how to prepare for and respond to these disasters within universities

     

    Program

    The Campus Safety Workshop consists of a two-day lecture and a two-day site visit to the affected area impacted by the Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011.

     

    Travel Costs

    Participants are required to fund their own travel and accommodation. No registration fee is required for this workshop.
