  • APRU E-Sports Fellowship Program

    We are excited to share that the nomination period is now open for the 2021 eSports Fellowship Program!

    Led by Tecnológico de Monterrey, the APRU eSports Fellowship Program is an international network of student leaders engaged in next-generation learning experiences that support the growth of healthy, vibrant eSports communities and are seeking to become the future leaders of the eSports industry.

     

    What are the expected outcomes?

    • Create an immediate and lasting impact on student communities
    • Connect students and their communities across borders
    • Place students in internships and jobs
    • Cultivate an alumni network that is accretive to both the fellowship and APRU eSports participating universities
    • Develop Leadership Competencies
    • Expand Student-led Campus Initiatives

     

    Eligibility

    • Must be expected to be a current student as of December 2021.

    • Must be a student of a participating university.

    • Students currently active in ESPORTS and Gaming activities at participating APRU universities are preferred.

    • We, at APRU and our member universities, understand that the eSports ecosystem is dominated in representation by male leaders, athletes, and experts. To enhance diversity and inclusion in the eSports ecosystem, APRU will not accept all male teams for the eSports fellowship. If you have any further questions, please contact Anya Wong (anya.wong@apru.org).

     

    The nomination should include the following materials(to be sent to protocol@yonsei.ac.kr by 2020/11/27 15:00):

    • Biography (250 words). Please also include your full name; field of study, name of the institution; and your email address.

    • A statement indicating relevant eSports and leadership experiences and your willingness to share your knowledge, skills and expertise (up to 300 words).

     

    For students interested in participating in this program needes to be nominated by their home university. This fellowship program will be composed of groups of 3-5 undergraduate students on a year-long commitment by students who are interested in developing an international Esports network of student leaders.

    During the one year-long program, students must attend at least 4 sessions, will have chances to take an active role in discussion and become an Esports ambassador for university and future participants.     UCLA Esports Workshop

    On Nov 17 (HKT), APRU and UCLA organized an Esports workshop on the theme of How to Run Engaging Events for Gaming Clubs. During the workshop, student-speakers from UCLA Esports shared their Esports event running experiences from planning, to advertising, to getting sponsor and to streaming. It is a great example on how students can lead engaging events even in Covid time.. In fact, representatives from different universities and Esport clubs participated in the workshop and asked some interesting and engaged questions during the Q&A session.     MetaGame Conference

    The APRU Esports Metagame Conference will take place within a broader convening titled the Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum hosted at Cyberport in Hong Kong on December 12,2020 at 9am (HKT). During the conference, there will be 1 keynote presentation, 2 panels and tournament. Please make your calendar and share widely with your students.     Borregos Esports Invitational

    Tecnológico de Monterrey is hosting a tournament call Borregos Esports Invitational as part of the MetaGame Conference. The deadline for the tournament registration is extended to December 3, 2020. It will start on December 10th and semi-finals and finals taking place on December 12th during the MetaGame Conference. This will be a great opportunity for students to represent their university in an international tournament. For more information, please visit the website.
