It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the Yonsei campus on behalf of our faculty, staff, and students. Yonsei University has gained its reputation as unarguably the most international university in Korea. It also has a strong heritage of academic excellence, tradition, and innovation. We would like to continue to build on these accomplishments and keep moving forward with one of our school missions, the spirit of truth and freedom.

Yonsei University is well-positioned to provide you with numerous experiential learning opportunities as well as a wide variety of academic courses by eminent faculty. Its core and elective courses include several thousand regular university courses in a broad range of academic disciplines taught in Korean as well as approximately 1,000 undergraduate courses taught in English every semester.

Leadership Biographies

Prof. Yong-Chan Kim
Vice President for International Affairs
Professor, Department of Communication
Yong-Chan Kim (PhD, University of Southern California) is Vice President for International Affairs and Professor in the Department of Communication at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. He is also a professor at Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech) at courtesy. He directs two research units at Yonsei: The Urban Communication Center and the Urban Communication Lab. For the past 20 years, his research program has been built around three key areas: urban communication, new media technology, and risk society. He has published more than 80 articles in prestigious journals such as Communication Research, New Media & Society, and Human Communication Research.

Prof. Sun Jae Jung
Associate Vice President for International Affairs
Associate Professor, Department of Preventive Medicine
Sun Jae Jung, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Yonsei University College of Medicine, Korea, where she teaches epidemiological methods and causal inference.

Her research focuses on the bidirectional relationships between mental and physical health, with particular emphasis on cardiovascular, endocrine, and reproductive conditions in relation to major mental disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder and major depressive disorder. A central pillar of her work is suicide prevention research. She is the Principal Investigator of the first large-scale, population-based cohort study on suicide and self-harm among children and adolescents in Korea, integrating biological, clinical, and social determinants of risk.

Dr. Jung has served as Principal Investigator or Co–Principal Investigator on multiple nationally funded studies, securing over USD 20 million in competitive research funding from the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare and other national agencies. Her work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Young Investigator Award (International Symposium on Resilience Research, 2019), the Young Epidemiologist Award (Korean Society of Epidemiology, 2021), and the Hanmi Young Medical Scientist Award (Korean Medical Women’s Association, 2024).

Dr. Jung received her MD from Yonsei University College of Medicine, completed specialist training in Preventive Medicine at Seoul National University College of Medicine, and earned her PhD in Epidemiology from Seoul National University. She was also a Yerby Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
