[Yonsei] Fact Sheet for Exchange Student Program

Exchange students are those who are nominated by an overseas university under bilateral exchange agreement. Exchange program candidates can apply through the International Office of their home university. Tuition is paid to the home university, and in most cases the application and documentation fee is waived.

Nomination Deadline (For University Coordinators)

1. Fall Semester : March 1 - April 15
2. Spring Semester : September 1 - October 15

Application Deadline (For Students)

1. Fall Semester : March 1 - April 30
2. Spring Semester : September 1 - October 31

Requirements

Minimum GPA for Application: CGPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or higher if specified in a separate agreement. (no other grade scales will be accepted whatsoever)

Language Requirement

Either English OR Korean proficiency proof is required. All tests must have been taken within 2 years of the start date of the semester

1) English : Either one of the following is accepted.
- TOEFL iBT or iBT Home Edition 79 (ITP or MyBest score is NOT accepted)
- IELTS 6.5
- Cambridge English Exam B2 First (FCE) ~ C2 Proficiency (CPE)

2) Korean : Either one of the following is accepted.
- KLAT level 4
- TOPIK level 4
- An assessment report by a professor

* Exception:
1) A national from majority native English speaking countries (Americas, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland) : Passport is required
2) Current home university is in majority native English speaking countries (Americas, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland) : N/A, but it must be specified in the transcript or Certificate of Enrollment
3) Current degree program is held 100% English : Home university letter is required

Application Materials

  • Official e-Transcript(s)
    - For non-OECD country nationals, authentication like Apostille or Korean embassy/consulate legalization is additionally needed on this document
  • Official Proof of Language Proficiency
  • ID Photo (for student ID card)
  • Photocopy of the ID page of Passport
  • Official e-Bank/Financial Statement (Electronically issued documents are accepted as originals. If the document is not issued electronically, an original hard copy must be submitted by post.)
  • Study Plan
  • Proof of Medical Insurance (may be submitted after admission confirmation)

To be additionally submitted by post mail (hard copies required)

※ Only for applicants who are required to obtain a D-2(student) visa (Applicants with Korean nationality or those holding a valid long-term visa, including F-1-F-6, A-1, A-3, or H-2, are not required to apply for a D-2 visa. Applicants who do not require a D-2 visa should not submit these documents)
